SNIEDZE RUNGIS PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AS AN ARTIST Apprenticed with director Dr. Werner Krieglstein, founder of The Whole Art Theater in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Eight years. Designed lighting, sets and costumes. Designed and produced promotional materials. Assumed the Artistic Directorship of the Whole Art Theater for six years. Directed ten productions. KEY PROJECTS & ACHIEVEMENTS 2004 Illustrated Valdis Zeps’ “Hungerwhere, Son of Mare” 2003 Received Alma College Janet Gallup Purchase Award: Annual Michigan Statewide Print Show Competition. 2003 Received SAIC Merit Scholarship 2002-04 Apprenticeship with R. Fischer & Company, artists’ representation firm. 2001 Adapted, produced and directed Agate Nesaule’s “A Woman In Amber”, winner of the American Book Award, in Riga, Latvia.1997 Received Kalamazoo Foundation Grant 1997 Received Alma College Senator Lee Rozier Purchase Award: Annual Michigan Statewide Print Show. 1994 Received Gilmore Foundation Emerging Artists Grant 1993 Received Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo Grant FORMAL EDUCATION School of the Art Institute of Chicago: Emphasis in Printmaking.
